I wanted to try a creepy gory Halloween makeup look and as I still have a latex version of my face I thought I could use this too. I saw an image of a makeup look where someone face was almost split in half and one side was sliding off. I took inspiration from this and will try and find the original image to show where this idea came from.

Latex Face (see 'inner demons makeup look)

Step by Step -

1) Firstly I cut my latex copy of my face in half. To make the latex copy of your face refer to the 'Inner Demons' makeup look. Pro-shield is a barrier foam which I added before all over the skin on my face to protect it from staining as red greasepaint and blood can stain the skin. 

2)I then took a black eyeliner and mapped out a line where the blood will start and the rest of my face will be intact. I then primed the eyes with primer potion and used 'Thirteen' from the Urban Decay Smoky Palette to set this. I then used 'combat' from the same Urban Decay Palette as a transition shade on the eye which will be opposite the gory side. 'Password' which is again from the same palette is swept through the crease of the same eye to give a smoky effect. Winged eyeliner is added on the upper lash line with a Black Gel Liner by Maybelline. The inner corner and lower lash line is lined using an angled brush dipped in 'Black Market' from the Urban Decay Smoky Palette. Mascara and lashes are added to the eye. Sleek Concealer is used under this eye and set with powder.

3)Time to move on to the gory side of the face. I used Prosaide to glue a cotton pad over my eye as to give the illusion that I no longer have an eyeball. I then coloured this over with a light red (079) grease paint from the Kryolan Supracolor Palette. I darkened the edges of the cotton pad with a dark red Supracolor (082). I used Artex by Kryolan all over the face to create an uneven texture. Artex is a product which comes in part A and part B. You mix together equal amounts and it will start to set but it can set quickly so you have to work fast. I hit the edges of the cotton pad with this and as it started to dry I manipulated it with a metal spatula to make it uneven. Gelatin is a cheap alternative for Artex.

4) I then coloured the gory side of my face with the light red Supracolour (079) and where there would naturally be a shadow ( the dips of the textured Artex) a darker red Supracolour is used to add depth the the edges (082). I then used Ben Nye Thick Blood in Dark and Light to not only add blood but also add chunks of flesh like clumps to the skin. I put quite a lot of the darker thick blood on the cotton pad to give it the appearance of depth in the eye socket considering I no longer have an eye visible. Problood by Kryolan which is a runnier blood is then added to the face. Washing up liquid can be dabbed on top as an emulsifier if the blood separates due to the oil in the Supracolour cream makeup.

5) The half of the latex face can be cut into what shape or width you like. I cut mine down so there is a space in the middle which made the look almost disturbing to look at. Thick blood can be added to the edges of the line in the middle of the face. This is the final look.

This can be slightly uncomfortable for the eye which is under the cotton pad but it is an effective look.

Another halloween look I've been planning is the devil. This look was complete with homemade horns.

Step by Step -

1) For the horns I boiled the kettle and filled up a glass jug with water. I then put the polymer plastic balls into the water and waited till they turned from white to clear. I then scooped them out and then started molding the plastic into a horn shape. The best method was to roll it like a sausage and then smooth the bottom by putting it against a straight surface and pinch the top so it goes into a more pointed shape. Keep repeating this until the plastic hardens and the shape will stay. I then got a metal spatula and added grooves down the sides of the horns.

2) The horns were then painted with a black skin illustrator tone and dark red was added tot he bottom thicker part. The horns were then complete.

1) The devils mouth was the first thing I painted on the face. I used black paint to create the outline and then

Step by Step - 

1) White face paint is applied all over the face, A few coats may be needed to get fuller coverage. Clown white, Supracolor cream makeup or white foundation can be used as an alternative base. I then brushed white paint through my brow hairs to coat them and make them less visible. 

2) I used black face paint to paint on the brows and did the arch a bit higher than my natural arch. The front of the brows have a rounded shape. I then used 'Captivate' and 'Lavish' From the MUA Romantic Efflorescence Palette to add frown lines at the start of the brow and to add a curved line above the brow. This make the brow appear as if it is raised. I then used the same shades to contour the cheeks but give them a rounded shape stemming from the nasal fold to along the cheekbone. The nose is also contoured. I then blended some lines from the chin to the center of the apple of the new cheek we have just created. 

3) I then took black face paint and painted my eyelid and lower lash line to create a new black eye for the mask. When the eye is closed this will make it appear as if it is part of the mask. The mustache is then added by creating a small triangle where the cupids bow is and then adding a line on either side going down and then across and then up. This sounds confusing so it may be best to follow the shape in the picture, I used a picture reference of the mask to help with this. I wanted the mustache to end under the apple of the cheek. 

4) The two shades from the same MUA Palette are then used to create a straighter bottom lip as apposed to my natural curve of my bottom lip. This joins at the sides with the mustache. I then added a rim around the eyes with the same shadows and darkened the inner corner with them. Wrinkles were added around the eyes by making dashes with an angled brush dipped in the same shadows. A small curved line was added under the eye on the cheek to give the appearance that the face is smiling. 

5) The chin has a painted kinda of goatee on it so again I used picture reference to get the shape right and painted this on with baack paint. MAC Dollymix Blush is added on the highest point of the apple of the cheeks and on the center of the bottom lip. 'Chino' from the MUA Winter Matte Palette was used to darken any lines that may have needed more definition. White facepaint is used to highlight around the wrinkles and lines of shadow to make them stand out further. 

The look was then complete. This is a fairly easy and quick look to do and is soo effective for halloween with or without your eyes closed. Gel liner can be used around the eyes with a primer to stop creasing if needed.
