Guido Palau is a hair stylist who I have mentioned in one of my previous posts on Fashion Catwalks (Marc Jacobs). He is primarily a fashion/editorial hair stylist who has done work for numerous magazines and catwalks. After having an unsuccessful start in a hairdressing salon he then began working for fashion work and photo shoots. He created the hair for many celebrities but his big break was when he worked for George Micheal for his 'Freedom' Music Video. This gave him exposure and he was quickly headhunted by designers such as Calvin Klein. Since then his career has picked up massively and he now designs hair for many catwalk shows each season.

Teen Vogue

One of my favorite hair looks Guido created was for his ponytail inspiration feature for Teen Vogue. There was six different styles which were all very unique and different from each other. This particular one reminded me of the film 'Grease' as it is inspired by the 1950's. I love how glamorous and neat it appears. As someone who can struggle with getting hair looking perfect, I do appreciate the talent Guido has as his hair looks never disappoint me. He always delivers with fresh and exciting ideas which help inspire my own creativity with hair. 

When it comes to Guido Palau there is always one story of his which sticks in my mind. When he first started out as a hairdresser he worked at the Vidal Sasson salon. He performed a prank and got fired which then lead to him being told he would never make it as a hairdresser. He then began to question his career path and the direction in which he was going. Now he is one of the most known hairdressers in fashion and has even been named as one of the leading trend setters in the industry. Whenever I come across set backs with hair I just think about Guido Palau and how he could've chose to give up and he wouldn't have been as successful or known as he is today. To me, he is an example that hard work pays off.
